Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 23 Sep 2019
Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.
Do you love content creation and finding that story that will challenge debate or inspire others?
Do you have experience in creating content for the web, including blogs (writing, editing, working with authors), podcasts (audio editing and recording) and/or social media (post creation)?
Do you have a passion for global issues and international development?
If the answer is yes, then would like to hear from you.
We are looking for a Digital Content Editor to join Oxfam’s Policy & Practice, who specialise in content for the global NGO sector. The role plays a pivotal part in Oxfam’s mission to engage with the sector and to share our learning, knowledge and insights with our peers.
You will manage and produce the content for our Views & Voices website (a subsidiary website of Policy & Practice) including blogs and podcasts from Oxfam staff and our civil society partners. You will produce engaging and inclusive content which targets global development practitioners, researchers, academics, humanitarian workers and policy makers. You will also work on podcast production and editing, but it is not a required skill set as training will be given.
You will also assist in promotional activities for our content, playing a key role in Policy & Practice’s social media and email channels through scheduling, posting and sourcing content. You will help the team experiment with new ways to reach our audiences and be creative in creating engaging posts which showcase our content.
What we are looking for
The role would suit someone who is creative, a critical thinker and takes an inclusive and accountable approach when working with different contributors. You’ll have a passion in finding the gem in a story, and helping authors to produce the best content they can.
Experience in creating content for the web is key (including the posting of content through content management systems, social media, etc.), with excellent skills in storytelling, whether that be through the medium of writing or audio.
We are also looking for someone who has ideas of how we can better present our content, and you’ll have a high stake in how our channels evolve.
This role will give you an opportunity to make a difference in the sector. You’ll help Oxfam staff and our partners to engage in the big issues, whilst sharing their insights and learning. You’ll also help us to bring out unheard voices, and be part of our ambitions to challenge global ‘North’ / ‘South’ power imbalances, debates and discourse.
The role has a lot of scope to be creative, and we offer training in multi-media online formats, including audio production and visuals.
Our values and commitment to safeguarding

Oxfam expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment through our code of conduct. We place a high priority on ensuring that only those who share and demonstrate our values are recruited to work for us.
The post holder will undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work within the safeguarding policies of the organisation. All offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory references and appropriate screening checks, which can include criminal records and terrorism finance checks.
We are committed to ensuring diversity and gender equality within our organisation and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
